Itamar News Alert

Dearest Friends a terrible fire on Friday destroyed the farm of the Melet family on Itamar. The farm included an olive and grain presses, an olive orchard, a storage freezer, 2 warehouses, a fork lift, containers of produce, and a solar energy system.  Barak has literally spent years of hard labor building up his farm.  It was a favorite spot for many tourists when visiting Itamar. Unfortunately, it now it lies in ruins. Anyone who wants to contribute in the rebuilding of his farm please see this link. We want to thank all the Friends of Itamar that have been standing with us over the years. In your merit, fire extinguishing equipment that we purchased with Friends of Itamar donations helped put out the fire before it spread to our neighborhoods and other areas of the community!

With great sorry we grieve the loss of Itamar’s fourth grade Student, Mordechai Ulpan – ז”ל 9 years old from the community of Tapucah in Shomron, who studied at the Itamar Talmud Torah elementary school.  Mordechai went to Russia to visit his grandfather who was a head of the Jewish community in Yekaterinburg east of the Ural. Sadly, he drowned to death while swimming in a river.  The Talmud Torah is asking for help in funding a movie about Mordechai that they will be able to present to the parents. In addition, they request assistance in providing a workshop for post trauma treatment of the students in Mordechai’s class who need assistance in coping with the loss of a dear friend.  Finally, they are holding a special summer learning program in Mordechai’s name to learn on behalf of all those who are sick with corona virus and ask for help in providing the teaching hours needed to run the program. See Rabbi Goldsmith’s appeal in this matter- Those interested please see this link.

Chanukah Letter

Dearest Friends, ,

Chanukah. It’s the holiday of light might and family gatherings, a time that illuminates into every heart, strengthening our faith in the victory of the pure and spiritual in times of darkness. Chanukah comes at the darkest time of the year, the time the sun sets the earliest and rises the latest. Night -time time, which is likened to our long exile. It is during this time that Hashem reveals a hidden light personified in a small jug of pure oil. That small jug provided the light that ignited into the return of sovereignty over Israel. Here on Itamar we are gathering in the olive harvest, just in time to prepare oil for the festival. Our collective memories take us back to Temple times when the oil was brought from HERE! FRIENDS OF ITAMAR, our 501c3 have been enabling restoration to the precious legacy of this vital inheritance assuring securing it and developing it. These are truly miraculous times! We want to thank you for feeling the conviction to help us and to partner in our crucial mission here holding down the heart of Israel. We turn to you at this time as we complete the fiscal year to continue to support our many projects so vital for our survival. May the light, might and joy of this festival season bless you with a beautiful winter season and may His countenance shine upon you always!

Blessings from Itamar Israel,

Happy Chanukah!!!!

Rabbi Moshe Goldsmith
