Special Appeal!

This letter is about a unique and profound relationship that has existed for thousands of years. It’s about the Land of Israel and the Jewish people. Israel was and is today a religious, political and economic entity, a home to those who live there. The Land of course has a deeper, spiritual meaning for us and the world and to those connected to her especially. Unlike many countries in the Middle East, it lacks natural resources to such an extent that it demands considerable intellectual effort and physical exertion to eke out a living. At the same time we see prophecy coming true by it returning to be a Land flowing with milk and honey. I can give you my testimony at seeing the entire topography of our area in the heart of Israel turn from grey to green.

We are now approaching the end of the shemitah year (the Sabbatical year) when helping others is not just a fulfillment of divine command but a natural consequence of reality. We believe the Land comes from Hashem and the livelihood within it. At the same time, this sphere of time teaches us to open our hearts to those in need. “And it shall be a rest for the Land- what grows shall be for you to eat, you and your servant” (Vayikra 25:6). The farmers give- but now it also a time for us to give them.

It goes without saying that the farmers here on Itamar are not only applying the Torah commandments in their holy work, but they are the key factor in being able to bridge the Lands between the Jordan Valley and the coastal area at times literally with their fingernails, keeping it secure as they develop it. Itamar is the vanguard of organic food production in Judea and Samaria maintaining the principles of biodiversity, ecological balance sustainability, using methods also of natural pest management and natural plant fertilization and soil integrity. The farmers here are committed to fostering healthy soil and growing conditions as well as free ranging all livestock. They do not administer hormones or antibiotics to the animals. Regardless of one’s beliefs on the political spectrum is, all people delight in her delicious organic products. As we prepare for the next agricultural year we have to rely on help from the outside to push this farming mitzvah/ideology forward. Even just attaining the proper security methods in safeguarding these areas of open expanse is a very big undertaking let alone helping the farmers prepare for the coming agricultural year.

What can you do?

If we can have enough people that can help, even a little a little goes a long way. We can help make their impossibility a reality and bring to life the prophecy of Isaiah, 62:4 “You shall no more be termed Forsaken and your land shall be no more termed desolate. You shall be called My delight is in Her!” Please help us make this happen! Friends of Itamar has received tremendous requests for support in this endeavor, it is vital that we broaden our support network. Have your friends get involved! Please see this link: https://friendsofitamar.com/donation-select/

Wishing you a restful and enjoyable summer!

Thank you so much for all of your help!

Special Pesach Message Friends of Itamar

[important][/important]

A letter to all our dear friends of Itamar – the meaning of The Seder – or order -on Pesach and how it applies to the turmoil in the world and of 2013

The entire process of exile and redemption is ordered and planned by G-d. If one knows this, it can bring about a transformation from personal slavery in our everyday lives to morphing into complete freedom in knowing indeed that Hashem rules the world and has a Divine SEDER (order) planned for the Jewish people and the world. Although Hashem could have made a perfect world from the start, it clearly states in the book of Genesis that “the earth was null and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep.” This describes the world as a topsy- turvey place, disjunct and in disarray.

But Hashem had a plan. Things were fixed and placed, as He passed judgment and enforced influence over His creations. The next verse brings this into play as the passuk continues: “And G-d said, let there be light! And there was light!” The festival of Pesach, even before the SEDER, is brought in by lighting the candles, by shining a light on to a new reality – into a room that was completely turned over and taken apart from the standard order and turned upside down only to be finally made perfectly clean orderly and  kosher for Pesach. Peace and order begin to take form as the candles we light pave the way for a tranquil illumination as the setting for our SEDER table and festival. We usher Pesach in with light.

There is no other nation that knows chaos than the Jewish people who were chosen to be a light unto the nations from time immemorial. Am Yisrael have experienced the crux of turmoil in every form, on their flesh and on their spirit – to this very day. As these words are being written there are world leaders who come today and ask to forfeit G-d’s Land and, its very heart and soul, the core of our ancestral Land. But there are those who have been placed and fixed to stand with G-d’s will and rectify the world by bringing SEDER to it. The nations witness Israel’s return to her Land and now decide if they want to walk with G-d’s plan in the continuity of time and how His will is fixed and placed precisely according to the timetable of redemption. What is happening today is no mere chain of events or coincidences but an implied series of events- according to a SEDER, the way to final redemption as only Divine Providence will have it. One can read all about these days we live in in the prophets written thousands of years ago.

The Friends of Itamar would like to bless all of you who have been placed and fixed to stand by our side at this great moment in history, during a time that we have left exile (but not completely) and are in the motions of redemption. It is a chaotic time, anything can happen which is why we need your help more than ever . We call on you at this time to extend a hand of support to your brothers and sisters on Itamar who are holding the lantern on the top of the mountain and shouting “Let there be light!”

Some of our current projects include: Completing our permanent Beit Knesset, if we receive the proper funds we can finish it in 4 months- assistance for the schools and children, town infrastructure, setting up an Itamar park of biblical botanical gardens, and the list goes on………….

Itamar News Updates Dec 28th 2012

עופר ויעלchitzim yeshivaAs the fiscal year is about to end, we want to thank you – our dear friends of Itamar that have been standing behind us in time of need.  In your merit we are able to continue building the land of Israel by strengthening the community of Itamar. One of our major projects is educational projects as there is nothing more important them educating the young generation about the love of Torah and the land.  Itamar is blessed with a number of educational institutions including the Itamar boy’s high school, Chitzim.

Yeshivat Chitzim has over 250 boys living at the school in dorms from all over Israel. They have varying degrees of learning disabilities- ADD, ADHD and other challenges that could have made learning a hardship but found a home here thanks to a professional staff. They receive a full Bagrut at the end of 12th grade and continue on to their army service, many serving in Israel’s elite units! Chitzim High School places an emphasis on the lovePraying in the desertIMG_9867 for Eretz Yisrael, the Torah of Israel and the idea of unity for all of Am Yisrael. It is a very unique school in that it involves the students with hiking through the land, taking part in chesed volunteer projects around the country and learning techniques in agriculture.

Ten years ago the school experienced terror attacks on campus in which some of the students were killed (see the memorial picture). memorialThe school however has quadrupled in size since then, giving credit to the passuk “Kasher yaanuh oto key yerbeh vikayn yifrotz.”   The school is in need now of building a new campus and would be thankful to anyone who can help with this most important project.

Itamar welcomed the visit of Agudat Achim form Austin Texas that came to visit Itamar this week. They really enjoyed themselves and had an eye-opening experience.

Itamar welcomed the visit of Yitzzy Schwartz who is part of the Itamar young generation of supporters from abroad. Yitzzy is finishing up his masters in nineteen century and medieval Jewish art.יצחק שוורארץ

Speaking of art, Yael and Ofer head are stained glass artists living on Itamar and have an art studio where they give classes both to the Itamar youth and adults.

Watch Rabbi Goldsmith’s Torah lesson on this week’s portion where he talks about never giving up hope.
